Fat cat gets stuck in doggie door

Goliath is one big kitty. How big, you ask? So big the stray got his generous frame stuck in the doggie door of a Gresham home. "I heard a quite a ruckus when I went into my garage," said Jadwiga Drozdek told the Oregon Humane Society when she delivered Goliath to the shelter. “It was hilarious to see this big cat struggling to get in. I helped him out of the door and gave him a plate of food on the patio.”The hungry feline weighed in at a whopping 20.2 pounds, earning him the nickname Goliath.Turns out Goliath’s not the only cat in America who needs to shed some pounds. Forty percent of cats are considered overweight, according to the humane society. And like their human counterparts, cats increasingly are being diagnosed with weight-related disorders like diabetes. If Goliath is not claimed in three days the Oregon Humane Society will neuter him and make him available for adoption. (The shelter will even throw in a free bag of low-cal cat food.)“He will sure warm your lap this winter," said Sharon Harmon, executive director of the humane society. “People with a king-size bed would be a good fit for this cat.”
