Kool & the Gang with Morris Day & The Time

Friday, September 16th, 2005 at 7 p.m.
The sweet sounds of classic R&B, funk and soulful jazz will swirl throughout the Bingo Events Center when Kool & The Gang, appearing with special guest Morris Day & The Time visit on September 16th. Kool & The Gang's meteoric rise on the pop music scene in the early 1970s featured a "jazzy" style with bold instrumentation, catchy lyrics and infectious coordinated dance moves. The band from New Jersey rode a crest of success early on with generational landmark hits "Funky Stuff" and "Jungle Boogie." With the dawn of the 1980s Kool & The Gang hit their stride with a string of Top Ten hits that became permanently embedded in pop music historical lore. "Ladies Night," "Celebration," "Cherish," "Get Down On It," and "Let's Go Dancin" all remain popular songs that crisscross generations and permeate our culture through everything from product endorsement to karaoke. An offshoot of the eclectic and dynamic performer Prince, "The Time" set the tone as the bedrock of funk and danceable R&B. Handpicked by Prince himself, Morris Day as the lead singer completed the final piece of the puzzle that unleashed a brassy, celebratory brand of music that led to niche culture hits promoting fun-filled partying themes and good times.
